10 Things to expect in the “new” Boracay

10 Things to expect in the “new” Boracay

Now that Boracay has been re-opened to the public after its 6 months’ closure, we have listed the top 10 things you’ll expect to see when you visit the island. Here is the expectation vs. reality listed!

Boracay Island Harbour, Philippines, November 2018

1 - You will be welcomed in one of the biggest ways!

2 - Hotel reservations are now required to be shown at Caticlan port. Tourists will be limited on a daily basis, based on available rooms. So make sure to have this ready.

  • Exit environmental fee: 100 PHP

ECO Electric Taxi’s, Boracay Island, Philippines, November 2018

Please help save the environment by using their Go-Electric services!

4 – There are building constructions everywhere. Expect a very dusty road going to your hotel. Don’t forget to bring masks with you!

Construction Boracay Island, Philippines, November 2018

5 - Love McDonald’s? Its now available beside the Budget Mart at Station 2.

6 – There are fewer water activities. Diving is open but limited. See Padi Internationals website for more information.

7 – Fewer parties at night. The “Epic” bar is still closed.

8 - Smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages and dining along the beach is banned. Bean bags are no longer available too! Which is a shame. Do let us know if you feel the same way!?

9 - Sand castle making will be regulated while fire dancing using kerosene lamps will be restricted.

10 – Its more pristine than ever: crystal clear waters and a more environmental-friendly island!

It is not recommended to visit the island this year due to construction and limited activities. BUT, if you have a laid back personality and enjoy the serenity, you will definitely fall in love with the quiet and pristine shorelines of Boracay! 2019 is looking more promising for visitors and holiday makers as slowly things are re-opening!
